Response Templates for Sellers: How to Reply Politely and Briefly to Common Questions

    Why Use Response Templates

On any classifieds board, sellers face the same questions: “Still available?”, “Can you negotiate?”, “Where are you located?”, “Can I reserve it?”. Ready-made phrases save time, help you not forget important details, and keep a polite tone even with a flood of messages. Below are proven templates for typical situations. Adapt them to your item and communication style.

    “Still available?”

If the item is still for sale, reply immediately and confirm availability. If it's already sold, honestly say so (see below). Example replies:

    • “Hello! Yes, the item is still available. I'm happy to answer your questions.”
    • “Yes, I'm selling it. I can send additional photos or a video.”

    Negotiating the Price

If you're open to bargaining, state your terms. If not, decline politely.

    • “The price already includes some room for negotiation. I'm ready to discuss it in person.”
    • “Negotiation is possible, but not more than 10% off the price.”
    • “The price is final, but I can throw in a bonus (e.g., a case).”

    Address and Area

Don't post your exact address in the ad — it's a safety issue. Agree on a meeting point.

    • “The area is Central, I'll share the exact address after we agree.”
    • “We can meet near Gorkovskaya metro or in the center. Does that work?”

    Reservation

If you agree to reserve the item, clearly state the terms: duration, deposit.

    • “I can reserve it for a day if you're ready to pay a 500 RUB deposit.”
    • “Reservation without deposit — until this evening, then it goes to the next in line.”

    “Already Sold”

Reply politely, even if the question comes late. This builds your reputation.

    • “Unfortunately, the item is already sold. Thank you for your interest!”
    • “Sold yesterday. If you'd like, I can suggest similar options.”

    General Tips

    • Reply within an hour — it increases your chances of closing the deal.
    • Write short sentences, avoid ALL CAPS and excessive exclamation marks.
    • Use emojis sparingly to avoid seeming pushy.
    • If a question is uncomfortable, ask for clarification or politely decline.

These templates are a starting point. Add your own details, but keep politeness and clarity. Happy selling!
